Seminario de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil de Guadalajara

The Seminario de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil is a non-profit cultural association created in 1984 with the aim of promoting oral traditions and reading among citizens. Its 55 members (of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese nationalities) are professionals in the fields of Education and Culture (librarians, cultural managers, actors, storytellers, photographers ....).

SLIJ's main activity is the organisation of the Guadalajara Storytelling Marathon, an annual festival of 46 uninterrupted hours of storytelling that in 2022 celebrates its thirty-first edition. It also organises activities related to oral heritage such as workshops, meetings, seminars, storytelling sessions or the celebration of the World Poetry Day

Each year the Marathon has had around 15.000 participants, 250 volunteers and 1.200 amateur and professional storytellers. The Festival has a European and global projection thanks to the EU Cultural Programmes to which SLIJ has presented projects in 2000, 2004, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2019, SLIJ being the coordinator of all of them.
