The Maison du Conte, one of the partners of the European project European Network of Storytelling Cities and Places (ENSST) held a language workshop for professional storytellers on 28th and 29th June. This activity was led by the storytellers Pépito Matéo, Clara Guenoun and the Language Laboratory of the Maison du Conte.

This workshop provided an opportunity to exchange, discuss and experiment with storytelling and foreign languages as a group. In addition, this initiative has allowed to share experiences and thoughts on multilingualism, translation and the use of languages and stories.

In the workshop programme, the experience of Pépito Matéo and Clara Guenoun in the Creative Residency in Sigüenza (Spain) for two weeks, from the end of May to the 9th of June, was discussed. Pepito Matéo is the director of the show "Il était una vez jeden utopická viaggio a történeteken keresztül em seis línguas" (Once upon a time a utopian journey through stories in six languages)" which was created through the ENSST network and premiered in Guadalajara on the occasion of the XXXI Maratón de los Cuentos. Clara Guenoun participates in this show as one of the narrators.

In this language workshop, activities focused on languages and oral storytelling as a way of linking different countries and different audiences. In addition, the Language Laboratory of the Maison du Conte, which for the last two years, Micro-Lab Languages, has been exploring the richness and relevance of the use of foreign languages in storytelling.
